FAQ
FAQ – Peppy Pete’s Gourmet Salsa
How is Peppy Pete’s different from most salsa in stores?
Every jar is handcrafted from our own recipes in our own commercial kitchen in the Pequot Lakes, Minnesota area. We don’t use a co-packer. That control lets us start with 100% fresh vegetables (and fresh-frozen fruit where used) instead of the canned tomato base many co-packed salsas rely on.
What heat levels do you offer?
We have 12 varieties ranging from Mild to Extreme.
- Mild: Mild Recipe
- Medium: Original, Cilantro & Key Lime, Roasted Jalapeño Verde, Black Bean & Corn, African Birdseye, Mango Habanero
- Hot: Hot Habanero
- Extreme Heat/Spice: Ghost Pepper, Trinidad Scorpion, Carolina Reaper, En Fuego
Note on heat: All of our salsas are built around flavor first. With the hotter varieties (Trinidad Scorpion, Ghost Pepper, Carolina Reaper, En Fuego), you’ll taste the unique flavor before the heat arrives.
Are your salsas gluten-free?
Yes. All Peppy Pete’s recipes are gluten-free and contain no artificial preservatives.
Do you ship nationwide?
Yes. Free shipping to the lower 48 states on any order of 4 or more jars (any combination). Orders under 4 jars ship at standard rates.
How long does shipping take?
Most orders ship within 1–2 business days. Transit time depends on your location; lower-48 orders typically arrive in 2–5 business days after shipment.
How should I store the salsa?
Unopened jars are shelf-stable. Once opened, refrigerate and use within a few weeks for best flavor and quality.
What size are the jars?
All varieties are 16 oz.
Have you won any awards?
Yes. Peppy Pete’s has earned 18 international awards, including 6 world titles (Scovie Awards, International Flavor Awards, and others). Notable results also include Grand Champion at the University of Minnesota Salsa Fest and first place at the Minnesota State Fair. Every jar entered was made in our own kitchen from our own recipes.
Can I buy Peppy Pete’s in stores?
Yes, at select retailers in central Minnesota (Emily, Crosslake, Pine River, Nisswa, Pequot Lakes). See the Retailers page for the current list. Most customers outside the area order online.
Do you offer samples or mixed packs?
Any combination of jars counts toward free shipping on 4+. We don’t currently offer pre-set sampler packs, but you can mix and match any varieties.
Who makes the salsa?
Dave and Lisa Jacobson. Production began in 2014. We still make every jar ourselves in our licensed commercial kitchen.
